The article both reviews attempts to increase P availability in the context of smallholder, low-input, and organic farming, and describes the successful process of POR that was applied in this case. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From 2010 to 2014, a total of 61 field trials were conducted in farmers&#8217; fields to evaluate the agronomic effectiveness of buttermilk-acidified RP compost. Application of buttermilk-acidified RP fertilizer resulted in higher yields of cotton in all field trials and higher yields of soybeans in all but one field trial.
