Memorial donation for access to water
bioRe® promotes organic farming of cotton in the region of Meatu, Tanzania, co-operating with more than 2,000 smallholders. Access to clean drinking-water is difficult, if not impossible, for the community. In periods of drought, the only water available is from rivers some of which are far away. Mostly the water is contaminated and a danger to human health.
Construction of water wells makes life in villages considerably easier. Before construction, the community appoints a “water user’s group” to be responsible for the well and make available an amount for maintenance work.
A well ensures supply of safe drinking-water for some 40 families throughout the year.
